Darren Holden is a scholar with Hartlepool United. A left-sided defender, he played for Sunderland side Herrington Grindon Rangers before being offered a scholarship contract at Hartlepool ahead of the 2010-11 season. Darren soon settled in, and as well as playing for the youth team was a regular for the reserves. A great first season was capped in April 2011, when he and fellow first-year scholar Josh Rowbotham were called up to make their first-team debuts against Tranmere Rovers.
