Danny Welbeck is a promising young striker who plays for Manchester United. A tall and gracefully athletic forward with great pace and the ability to play on the wing, he also possesses excellent technique and an easy-on-the eye playing style. Part of the Red Devils side that reached the final of the 2007 FA Youth Cup while still a schoolboy, Danny signed scholarship forms that summer and found himself on the bench for the Champions? League semi-final against Barcelona in May 2008. While he didn't make it onto the field that day, he made his full debut in September 2008 at the age of 17 and followed that up with a stunning 30-yard strike on his maiden Premier League appearance. The Manchester-born front man has scored further goals in both domestic cups and, after an injury-hit spell on loan with Preston in 2009-10, shone in the top flight the following season when loaned to Sunderland. Danny has appeared for England at every age level, most recently earning a first senior call-up on the back of his fine form on Wearside and picking up his first cap against Ghana in March 2011. © 2011 - PFA Player Profiles
