Craig Dawson is a young centre back who joined West Bromwich Albion in August 2010, but was promptly loaned back to Rochdale for the 2010-11 season. Craig is strong in the air and in addition to his defensive role he provides an attacking threat at set pieces. He signed for Dale from non-league club Radcliffe Borough in February 2009 and went on to make his Football League debutat Port Vale on the opening day of the 2009-10 season. Craig quickly established himself as a key member of the side and also contributed 11 competitive goals in his first season as a professional. His performances earned him a place in the PFA League Two team of the year as well as the League Two Player of the Year prize at the annual Football League awards. He was again a regular for Rochdale in 2010-11 before returning to The Hawthorns in the summer of 2011 to continue his development.
