Chris Barker is an experienced left back or left-sided centre back who joined Southend United shortly after the start of the 2010-11 campaign having begun the season on loan at Roots Hall from Plymouth. The move saw him link up again with his former boss Paul Sturrock. Initially recruited to cover for injuries, Chris soon established himself as an essential member of the Shrimpers? defence and produced a string of impressive performances, which earned the club?s Player of the Year award. Chris has previously seen service with a number of clubs including Barnsley, Cardiff City and Queen?s Park Rangers, from whom he joined Plymouth in August 2008.
