Player Details

Asmir Begovic is a tall young goalkeeper who signed for Stoke City in January 2010. Asmir is a solid ?keeper who is good in the air and commands his penalty area well. He was initially back-up to Thomas Sorensen, but took over the jersey at the end of October 2010 and was then first choice for Premier League games, but not in the FA Cup, and he missed out on a Wembley appearance in the final against Manchester City. Asmir started out as a trainee with Portsmouth, playing his first senior football during a loan spell with Belgian club La Louviere. His Football League debut came while he was on loan to Macclesfield Town in the 2006-07 season, and at the end of 2008-09 he stepped up to make his Premier League debut for Pompey. Asmir represented Canada U20s, before switching his allegiance to Bosnia-Herzegovina, for whom he won his first cap against Estonia in October 2009.
