Antony Sweeney is the longest serving Hartlepool United player. First signed as a trainee he has now completed 11 seasons with the club and has made over 300 first- team appearances. Over the years he has been a great club servant, and has performed equally well despite being asked to play in a number of different midfield and defensive positions. A player who always displays a positive attitude, during 2010-11 he was outstanding in his preferred central-midfield role. Having more freedom to go forward, he was Hartlepool's top goalscorer with 14 goals in all competitions, including a hat-trick in Pools? 4-2 FA Cup victory over Yeovil Town. At the end of the season he was rewarded by winning both the Supporters' and Players' Player of the Year awards.
