Andrey Arshavin Biography

An attacking player who signed for Arsenal at the end of the January 2009 transfer window.

A diminutive, agile but technically gifted winger who can also play up front, he is able to produce moments of real quality and has scored some spectacular goals. Andrey has been a regular in the matchday squad since joining the Gunners and marked his first season by scoring all four of his team’s goals in the 4-4 draw at Anfield.

He was more often on the bench in 2011-12 and spent time on loan back in Russia with his former club Zenit St Petersburg. Andrey began his career with Zenit where he won a bagful of honours including the UEFA Cup in 2008.

He continued to represent Russia during the season, featuring in the Euro 2012 finals and by the summer had gained a total of 74 caps for his country.
