Andreas Weimann

A young striker who was a scholar with Aston Villa before graduating to the professional ranks.

Andreas is a hard working player who has impressed with his unselfish play and an eye for goal. A regular for the reserves in 2009-10, he made his first-team debut as a substitute against West Ham in the opening game of the 2010-11 season and a few days later appeared in a Europa League tie with Rapid Vienna.

Unfortunately he suffered a bad ankle injury and was out of action until the New Year, after which he enjoyed a successful spell on loan to Watford. He returned briefly to Vicarage Road, at the start of 2011-12 before being recalled to Villa Park due to an injury crisis.

Andreas made great progress in the second half of the campaign, making his first starts in the Barclays Premier League and scoring with a superb strike in the 1-1 draw with Stoke, which earned Villa’s Goal of the Season prize.

He was also the club’s Young Player of the Season. Andreas has represented Austria at U17, U19 and U21 levels.
