Anders Lindegaard Biography

An international goalkeeper currently playing for Manchester United.

An imposing physical presence, the 6’4” keeper is a commanding, authoritative figure with sound handling and impressive distribution, allowing him to start moves from the back for both club and country.

Anders started his career with hometown club Odense BK, where he came through the youth ranks but never quite made the breakthrough to first team regular, being kept out of the team by – among others – former United stopper Roy Carroll.

The Dane made the move to Norwegian side Aalesunds FK in search of regular football and was soon making Odense regret the decision to let him go, winning the Norwegian Cup in 2009, forcing his way into the Denmark national setup and attracting the attention of United, who brought him to Old Trafford in January 2011 as part of their search for Edwin van der Sar’s eventual successor.

Anders impressed in a pair of FA Cup appearances before injury cut short his debut campaign in England, but bounced back well to compete strongly with David de Gea for the starting role last term. A strong contender for that position for his national side, he has made five appearances for Denmark and was a member of their squad at this year’s European Championship finals.
