Alex Baptiste is a versatile defender who signed for Blackpool in the summer of 2008. He is primarily a central defender but has also featured at left back and in a midfield role. A regular in the line-up since January 2009, he scored one of the Seasiders goals in the 4-0 win at Wigan on the opening day of the 2010-11 season. Alex missed several weeks when sidelined with an ankle injury before returning to the line-up once more at the end of January. Alex began his career as a trainee with Mansfield Town. He made his first-team debut at the age of 17 and went on to make over 150 appearances for the Stags before moving on.
