Alan Hutton

A right back who joined Aston Villa from Tottenham Hotspur in August 2011.

Alan is a tall, strong, very fast and direct player who is always keen to get down the line and assist the attack. On occasions he has also been used to cover at centre back and at left back. He made his debut in the 2-2 draw at Everton, and spent much of the 2011-12 season as Villa’s first choice right back, although he also occasionally played in midfield.

Alan began his career in the SPL with Rangers, moving south to White Hart Lane in January 2008. He won a Carling Cup winners’ medal in his first season with Spurs, but suffered a long-term injury in 2008-09 and lost his place to Vedran Corluka. He recovered his fitness but subsequently found his first-team appearances restricted.

He added further caps for Scotland and by the summer of 2012 he had played 23 times for his country.
