Cameron Percy leads IFQ - Australasia after round one

Australia's Cameron Percy is two shots clear of the rest of the field heading into the second round of today?s International Final Qualifying Australasia at Kingston Heath.[LNB]34 year-old Percy from Dingley in Melbourne shot a first round five under-par 67 in cool, breezy conditions at Kingston Heath Golf Club. Winner of the 2006 Queensland PGA Championship and a member of the Nationwide Tour, he went out in 34, picking up his first birdie at the par-4 third. After bogeying the 5th, Percy regrouped and responded with birdies at the 6th and 7th to lie two under at the turn. Then, in an error-free back nine, the Victorian registered consecutive birdies at the 12th and 13th, before making his sixth and final birdie at the 18th. [LNB]Percy holds a two shot lead from Queenslanders, Michael Wright and Peter Senior. Wright has qualified for the Open through IFQ once before, at Kingston Heath in 2006 whilst Senior has made seventeen appearances at the Championship, the last coming in 2000 when it was held on St Andrews? Old Course. [LNB]One stroke further back is New Zealander, Josh Geary, who carded a two under-par 70. Geary starts the second round alone in fourth place, one shot ahead of Victorian, Tim Wood, and Sydney?s Anthony Summers. [LNB]Forty-three players are contending for three places at this year?s Open Championship.
