The 24-year-old has made just nine appearances for the Elland Road club since joining in January 2008 and spent the latter part of the recent season on loan at Blundell Park. Mariners boss Mike Newell has expressed his interest in signing the former Millwall man on a permanent basis and Sweeney revealed that Grimsby are one of the clubs he is considering. "I just have to speak to my agent in a week's time and he'll let me know what offers are around," he told BBC Radio Humberside. "I expect to leave Leeds United now, although that's not 100% yet. "Football is a funny game and you never know what will happen, so I can't say for sure what will happen as yet. "I've spoken to Mike Newell a couple of times and he's told me Grimsby are interested in taking me. I won't be ruling out that move, but I have to wait and see what options my agent gives me, but Grimsby is one I'm certainly looking to go to."
