Ward: I'm the man for Port Vale

The League Two club are expected to name their new boss at any time, with Ward and Micky Adams the two frontrunners among four candidates still in the frame for the position. From a similar position to Vale's, Ward led cash-strapped Cheltenham to promotion from League Two back in 2006 and he is adamant he could do the same this time around if he is handed the opportunity. "At Cheltenham we had one of the lowest budgets in League Two and then one of the lowest average attendances and budgets in League One," he told The Sentinel. "I think that is one of the reasons Vale are talking to me because this is an area I can deal with. I've dealt with it before and when I do get back into football I know I'll deal with it again. "We all know the financial situation, which has been made public. There is no hidden agenda."
