Robin van Persie is hoping he will soon have 'something to report' regarding a new contract at Arsenal. Gunners boss Arsene Wenger confirmed last week that he is waiting for the chance to discuss a new deal with Van Persie. The Dutch striker has two years remaining on his current contract at Emirates Stadium and the delay in talks has sparked suggestions he could leave the club. Van Persie admits no progress has been made regarding an extension, but he suggested there could be news in the near future. No headway "The club and I have not been able to make any headway," said Van Persie in De Telegraaf. "But maybe I will soon have something new to report. That is all I have to say on this now." The former Feyenoord youngster was happy with his contribution to Arsenal's season, but was disappointed to see the club miss out on silverware for the fourth successive year. He added: "My aim was to play as many matches as possible and I achieved it by taking part in 44 games. I am also happy with my number of goals and assists. "But the one blemish is that we have not won anything. Lifting the trophy, and the feeling that gives you, is what football is all about."
