Zach Johnson won a play-off against James Driscoll to defend his Texas Open title at La Cantera in San Antonio.

The 2007 Masters champion sank a 10-foot putt for birdie at the first play-off hole to deny his fellow American and secure his sixth US PGA Tour title, along with $1,098,000 in prize money.

Johnson followed his stunning third-round 60 with a level-par 70 on Sunday to stand at 15 under for the championship.

Driscoll forced the play-off with a 62, but he had no answer to Johnson's arrowed six-iron approach at the 18th, which set up a birdie three and gave Johnson a victory which moved him to the top of the FedExCup standings.

"I feel very lucky," Johnson said. "You want to put the pressure on your opponent (in a play-off). There's no doubt about it. It's not like he hit a bad shot. He hit 20-plus feet. He hit a good putt. So it just kind of went my way."

Three-times champion Justin Leonard finished tied for fifth after carding a final-round 69.
