Midfielder Gary O'Neil joined West Ham United from Middlesbrough in January 2011. He made his Hammers? debut as a substitute against Birmingham City in the Carling Cup semi-final second leg, but made just eight more appearances before suffering a serious ankle injury against Aston Villa in April which ended his season. A versatile midfielder with a good engine and eye for goal, Gary began his career with Portsmouth and went on to make nearly 200 appearances for the club before joining Middlesbrough in 2007. Gary has represented England at all age-group levels and won nine caps for the U21 side.
