Whites draft in North End defender
Published : 23 Mar 2010 16:53:00

Collins, 26, will stay until the summer and provides Leeds manager Simon Grayson with much-needed central defensive cover after Kisnorbo suffered a season-ending Achilles injury in Monday night's defeat to Millwall, which appears to have ended his World Cup dreams with Australia. Collins, who has made a total of 23 first-team appearances for Preston this season, signed a permanent deal at Deepdale in January after initially arriving on loan from Wolves. Former Preston manager Alan Irvine paid £600,000 for Collins before being sacked and the centre-half has fallen out of favour with new Lilywhites boss Darren Ferguson. Meanwhile, Leeds have agreed to extend striker Davide Somma's loan spell with Lincoln until the end of the season.
