Treacy singled out

Preston boss Darren Ferguson singled out Keith Treacy for special praise after his goal sealed a 2-1 extra-time win at Bradford in the Carling Cup.Paul Coutts put North End ahead with a 25-yard shot after goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin had twice denied Treacy, who also struck the woodwork twice. That was before Bradford, who knocked out Nottingham Forest in round one, had equalised through Jake Speight with eight minutes remaining before Treacy struck the winner.Asked about Treacy, Ferguson said: "He has got that ability. He had six shots in this game and hit the crossbar twice."He is playing a lot better this season. He has got a lot of ability and getting into the full Republic of Ireland squad was a big thing for the lad."Mentally he is improving well, but I still need to get a bit more out of him. He still needs to work on the defensive side of the game but I am pleased with him - he comes alive with the ball at his feet."
