Striker woe for Simpson
06 Aug 2007 - 13:33:37
Preston North End boss Paul Simpson is on the lookout for a new striker, with both Patrick Agyemang and Neil Mellor suffering injury setbacks.
Agyemang faces several weeks on the sidelines after damaging a thigh muscle, while Mellor has a lower back problem from the weekend's friendly against Blackburn Rovers.
Simpson told the Lancashire Evening Post: "Losing Patrick is a real blow to us. We had him scanned on Friday and there is a possibility he could be out for maybe three weeks.
"We will have to try and get someone in to replace him.
"Neil's got a knee right up the backside. We will see over the next few days how he is, but hopefully he will be okay for the weekend.
"If he isn't right for Saturday then we are going to be pretty short-handed."
