Preston North End boss Paul Simpson has added West Bromwich Albion midfielder Darren Carter to his squad - his fourth signing of the summer.
The 23-year-old has penned a four-year deal with the club and moves to Deepdale for an initial £750,000, which could rise to £1.25million depending on performance-related bonuses.
Carter made 39 starts for the Baggies and 27 appearances from the substitutes bench in his two seasons at The Hawthorns.
He started his career at Birmingham City and, after a loan spell with Sunderland, moved to Albion for £1.5million in the summer of 2005.
"It's taken a while, but I'm pleased and I'm looking forward to him being a Preston North End player," Simpson told the club's official website.
