Preston boss Paul Simpson has revealed the club are closing in on securing the services of two new players. The former Carlisle manager has identified a new striker and defender as the key areas for strengthening before the August 31 transfer deadline and hopes to have a loan deal wrapped up by the weekend when QPR visit Deepdale. He said: "We've got people out at games looking at players and we've made offers, we're trying to get loan players in and it's a case of just being patient and waiting for a decision. "We've just get to keep going because there are players out there that will make us better and we'll keep going to get them until we feel we've got a settled squad."
