Simmo earns deal extension

Preston North End manager Paul Simpson has agreed a new long-term contract at Deepdale, running until the summer of 2011.

Simpson joined the Lilywhites in the summer from Carlisle United and has proved to be an instant hit, guiding Preston towards an assault on automatic promotion.

He told the club's official website: "When I came here there were clauses in my contract that they could extend it by an extra year or two depending on how they felt things were going.

"They didn't need to tell me until the end of the season, so I am delighted that the directors and chairman feel I must be doing something right for them to give me the two-year extension.

"It is a reward for what we have done and what the players have done, but the league table is the one that shows that we are going in the right direction."
