Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw has given his full backing to Lilywhites manager Paul Simpson, despite the club's stuttering form in recent weeks.
North End have won just once in their last seven games and have slipped out of the play-off places, but could still secure a top-six finish with victory against Birmingham City on Sunday.
Shaw told the Lancashire Evening Post: "It is unbelievable to hear the criticism of Paul.
"But if you go back six weeks or so, the same fans were worried that Paul Simpson might get poached away from the club this coming summer.
"Paul has done a great job. He works very, very hard and is desperately disappointed with what has happened over the last ten or so games."
