    Setback for McKenna

    17 Apr 2007 - 12:18:30

Preston North End manager Paul Simpson fears that Paul McKenna will not play again this season after the 29-year-old suffered a groin injury in training.

McKenna has not featured in the first team for almost two months after enduring a hernia operation but had been stepping up his training recently.

"We've had a bit of a setback with Paul McKenna," Simpson confirmed to the club's official website.

"He's obviously not been right since the operation, but we've booked him in for a scan now because he's tried to train again and felt something go in his groin area.

"We think the hernia is actually fine, but it's caused other problems and we think that he's now got some sort of problem in his groin, possibly a tear and the signs are at the moment that we probably won't see him again this season.

"It's a massive blow for us, but something we have to accept and something we have to get on with."
