Retained List Announced

As expected Graham Westley will be starting from scratch as the biggest clear out since the Beck era has started at Deepdale.

I didn't actually realise how many players we had but here is a list of the out of contract players who have been released; Arestidou, Brown, Mclellan, Devine, Leather, Gray, Billington, Turner, Ashbee, Douglas, Clucas, Miller, Comrie and Hunt.

Some of the above are of no surprise with Douglas and Comrie already having announced their departures whislt Ashbee and Turner had already agreed to cut short their contracts. Hunt and Brown were only on temporary deals in any event whilst it was known that Gray had fallen out publicly with Westley.

Neil Mellor and Graham Alexander had both announced their retirements in recent weeks and had both come to the end of their contracts.

Wright, Nicholson, Mclean, Tsoumou, Daley and Mcglaughlin have rarely featured under Westley or have been sent out on loan all have one year left on their contracts. They have been informed that they are all free to leave the club if someone comes in for them.

Murphy, Aneke and Ehmer have all returned to their parent clubs for their loan spells at Preston. Alex Marrow also appears to have returned after his spell was cutshort by Westley.

Parry is out of contract but in negotiations with the club over a new deal and the same goes for Luke Clark. Hume and Coutts are to remain at the club for the near future although no offers have been received and as we have come to expect if the right bid came in they would probably be allowed to leave.

Jamie Proctor and Danny Mayor have in effect handed in transfer requests by stating they wish to play at a higher level should the opportunity arise and will therefore be sold off at the earliest opportunity.

This now leaves a small group of players who Westley wants to keep and who actually still want to play for him. This select group is Stuckmann, Robertson, Morgan, Andy Proctor, Holroyd, Cummins, Hayhurst and Barton. At least we have enough for a 5 a side team with Barton still injured and Hayhurst likely to go out on loan.

Andy Proctor has stepped down from the captaincy. That is probably due to the abuse directed at him for his absymal performances throughout the second half of the season. Hopefully Westley can work some magic with a League Two standard player.

There is some contradiction as Westley said earlier in the week that Clark would be sent out on loan with Hayhurst to get experience. It now appears he is in talks about his future at Deepdale. Perhaps the thought of a loan deal didn't entice hime.

All I can say is watch this space for more comings and goings as apparently players have already been lined up to come into the club.
