Preston warn West Brom off Irvine

Preston are ready to fight any approach from West Bromwich Albion to make Alan Irvine the new boss at the Hawthorns. Reports suggest Irvine, who guided Preston to the Championship play-offs last season, is West Brom's top target to take over from Tony Mowbray. But Preston chairman Derek Shaw insisted no approach had been made. He said: "It would be a disaster for us.
