Preston ace targets return

Preston North End forgotten man Paul McKenna has targeted an October return from his seven-month injury battle.

North End's longest serving player has not featured in the first team since picking up a groin injury in February and going under the surgeon's knife.

But McKenna has revealed he is close to making a comeback and is hoping to step up his training next week with a view to returning to full fitness in October.

"I'm hoping to join in with the youth team next week and finally get back to doing some football training," he told the club's official website.

"The last two weeks it's come on a lot. I'm still about a month away, but it's looking good.

"They said three months from the operation, and we are two months on so altogether it will be about 12 weeks.

"It's seven months since my last match, so it'll be nice to return to old ways."
