PNE boss keen to keep Lonergan

The homegrown 25-year-old emerged as one of the most consistent stoppers outside the top flight last season as North End reached the Championship play-off semi-finals. He has since been linked with moves to Blackburn and Sheffield United but Irvine is refusing to read too much into the speculation. He said: "There are always going to be newspaper stories like this and there is nothing we can do about it. "But I can assure you we haven't heard a word from any club. I'll be happy if it stays that way."
