Steve Simonsen is an experienced goalkeeper who signed for Sheffield United in the summer of 2010 after a successful loan spell towards the end of 2009-10. He was a regular in the side for 2010-11 but during a shaky spell in December he was twice replaced by Richard Wright, while George Long took his place for the final game. Steve's career began at Tranmere Rover followed by a short spell with Everton but it was with Stoke City that he really came to the fore, being first choice for almost four seasons before losing his place towards the end of 2007-08. A reliable 'keeper, Steve is a solid shot stopper with a good sense of positioning. He is a former England U21 international.
