North End swoop for Davies

Preston North End have swooped to sign defender Andrew Davies on loan from Stoke City.

Injury has prevented the 24-year-old centre-half from making a first-team appearance for the Potters following his summer move from Southampton and the former England Under-21 international has joined North End on a month's loan.

"I'm really looking forward to it, it'll be a good opportunity for me," he told the club's official website.

"I haven't played for quite a few months so it will be a good challenge for me.

"I've played against Preston a few times and they're a good team. I've just come here to play football and try and help the lads achieve promotion."
