North End snare Nicholls

Preston North End have finalised a deal to bring Leeds United midfielder Kevin Nicholls to Deepdale.

The 28-year-old former Leeds captain moved to Elland Road from Luton Town last summer but, after an injury-plagued start to life at the club, he angered boss Dennis Wise in January by revealing a desire to rejoin his former side.

The move to Preston had been held up because of Leeds' continuing administration problems.

Nicholls made only 15 appearances for United, who are about to embark on their first ever season in the third tier of English football.
