North End slam Whaley link

Preston North End chairman Derek Shaw has dismissed speculation suggesting that Queens Park Rangers had lodged a bid for Lilywhites winger Simon Whaley.
The 23-year-old has been with the Deepdale club since January 2006, scoring 16 goals in 109 appearances for North End and Shaw is adamant that Whaley will not be moving on.
He told the Lancashire Evening Post: "I don't know anything about these stories, but they aren't true.
"The trouble is a report like that pops up somewhere and, before you know it, everyone is running with it.
"We have not had any contact from Queens Park Rangers for Simon.
"Without a doubt he is a player that Alan Irvine would like to hang on to, one of the first-team squad members he would wish to keep.
"There are players who he might consider moving on, but Simon is certainly not one of them."
