Nicholson coup delights Irvine
01 Jul 2008 - 12:31:12
Preston North End boss Alan Irvine hopes to bring in several more players before the start of the new season in just over five weeks' time after clinching the signing of former Aberdeen midfielder Barry Nicholson.
The 29-year-old, who found the net 21 times in 125 appearances for the Dons in his three seasons at Pittodrie, has penned a two-year deal with Irvine's side.
"I know Barry as a player and I've heard great reports about him as a lad and as a professional," the Preston boss told the club's official website.
"There was a lot of interest in him, as obviously someone of his experience and quality being available on a Bosman is something that would interest a lot of clubs.
"We've still got plenty of time before the season starts to try and get some more players in but we're delighted with that as a first signing."
