Preston North End winger Lewis Neal looks set to be sidelined until the end of March with a neck injury.
The 25-year-old former Stoke City star has struggled with the injury for most of the winter and has now been told he needs intensive treatment to cure the condition.
Club physio Steve Kemp told Preston's official website: "He's been suffering with neck and shoulder pain for the last two to three months and he's been playing through it.
"Unfortunately it's got to the point where the pain is getting worse and worse.
"We're now going to take the time to have some intensive treatment, take Lewis away from football and try to concentrate on building up his strength and stability in his neck. Hopefully that should resolve the problem."
