Injured Preston North End defender Youl Mawene could play again before the end of the season after returning to light training following medial and cruciate knee ligament damage.
Mawene, 27, has not featured for the Championship promotion hopefuls all season after suffering the injury in a friendly against Manchester United in July.
"Youl is joining in all of the football and doing really well. Basically now he has to carry on with all of the football training that he is doing and making sure he gets full power back into his quads," said North End boss Paul Simpson.
"We have done some video analysis of him and identified a weakness in his quads and we need to build them up, which will obviously help him when he gets back into full-time training.
"He is a top pro and he has worked as hard as anyone to get himself right.
"It will be a real big bonus if we have got him available to us before the end of the season."
