Preston North End have won the race to sign Oldham Athletic's highly-rated central defender Neal Trotman.
The 20-year-old had been linked with a host of other clubs, but has opted to move to Deepdale after agreeing a three-and-a-half year deal with Alan Irvine's side.
The Lilywhites have paid an initial transfer fee of £500,000 for the youngster who is expected to make his debut for the club in this weekend's Championship clash against Norwich City.
Trotman started his career with Burnley but was released after failing to break into the first team at Turf Moor.
He was snapped up by the Latics in the summer of 2006 and made 24 appearances for the club, as well as playing 16 matches for Halifax Town during a loan spell with the Shaymen last season.
