Preston North End have signed Wolves defender Neill Collins on loan until the end of the year, with a view to a permanent move if he impresses.

The 26-year-old has made nearly 100 appearances for the Molineux club, but has not featured in the Premier League this season.

Lilywhites boss Alan Irvine told the club's official website: "I'm absolutely delighted, Neill's a proven player at this level.

"He's a really good age for a centre-back and he's enjoyed two promotions from the Championship with Sunderland and Wolves.

"I think we've managed to add a very experienced Championship defender who I believe has even more chances of developing if he plays regularly.

"I think he'll prove to be an excellent signing in the short term and hopefully in the long-term for us."
