Irvine happy to snare Elliott

Preston North End boss Alan Irvine is delighted to have ended his summer squad rebuilding by landing Wolves striker Stephen Elliott on a three-year contract.

The Lilywhites have also signed Barry Nicholson, Ross Wallace and Jon Parkin since the end of last season, and Irvine is happy with his acquisitions.

He said of Elliott's arrival at Deepdale: "He's obviously a very good player. He's 24-years-old, a Republic of Ireland international and he's scored goals in the Championship and in the Premiership.

"He's desperate to get back playing as a striker, which is obviously where we see him.

"I've certainly got plenty of options now and it's great. It's a situation that you want. You're looking for players who'll complement each other, and I think we've got a nice blend now."
