Preston North End's new manager Alan Irvine was delighted with his first win in charge at Deepdale, a 3-0 success over Hull City.
Goals from Patrick Agyemang, Simon Whaley and Lewis Neal put paid to the Tigers and gave the Lilywhites a much-needed morale boost.
Irvine said afterwards: "I'm delighted obviously with the win. It's been tough for the players, fans and staff and the board of course and I'm delighted for all of them.
"The feeling from the players is that this is the start rather than anything else. That's good because we can't rest on that and we still have a lot to do.
"I knew we needed to be patient with the ball and that was the message we passed to the players at half-time.
"In the second half I thought we passed the ball better and of course scored some good goals."
