Irvine drafts in McEveley

Preston North End manager Alan Irvine has acted swiftly to bring a new left-back to the club after have learning that Michael Hart faces a spell on the sidelines with an ankle injury.

As Callum Davidson is currently suspended, Irvine has opted to bring Derby County's Scotland international Jay McEveley to Deepdale on an emergency one-month loan deal.

Irvine told the club's official website: "It's fantastic that we've been able to get a player of Jay's quality in at such short notice.

"Jay's relatively young but he already has plenty of experience both in getting promotion from the Championship and he's also played plenty of football in the Premiership.

"We know how difficult it is to get quality players in on loan so we're delighted that Derby manager Paul Jewell has allowed him to come to Preston."
