Injury relief for North End

Preston manager Alan Irvine says that the injuries which kept Richard Chaplow and Michael Hart from playing at the weekend are "nothing serious".

The duo joined Chris Brown, who has an ankle strain, and Karl Hawley, foot, on the sidelines, yet Irvine has made it clear that both players should be fit by the start of the season.

"Richard Chaplow has got a little bit of a strain, it's a wee bit of a problem with his hip, Michael Hart has got a little thigh problem, they are small things.

"If we were playing in the league then they would all be in contention but you don't take any chances at this particular stage.

"We have done too much hard work for them to end up being out for two or three weeks."
