Henderson won't be rushed

Preston North End boss Alan Irvine has confirmed that Wayne Henderson will not play again this season.

The 24-year-old Republic of Ireland international has not played since August due to a serious back injury and Irvine now wants him to concentrate on getting himself fully-fit for the start of next term.

"I wouldn't expect Wayne to be involved again this season," Irvine told The Irish Sun.

"It's a case of writing this year off and looking forward to the next one.

"It's such a shame because he's still not able to do very much at the moment. The most important thing is he's back fully-fit by the start of next season.

"It's really just a question of patience with him. He has to take things carefully. I've had a chat with him and said he must make sure he doesn't do anything that prolongs it beyond this season."
