Hayes targets promotion
Preston striker Paul Hayes believes the team are capable of challenging for promotion this season.North End finished 17th in the Championship last season but Hayes has tipped the side to push for a top-six berth in manager Darren Ferguson`s first full campaign in charge.Hayes, who joined from Scunthorpe this summer, told BBC Radio Lancashire: "I think we've got a great chance. You look at Blackpool last year, Burnley, Hull and Stoke before them."They are mid-table championship sides that have gone on to the Premier League and done well. We've got some great players here and that's why I'm here. The gaffer wants to bring in a couple more players and when he has I think we can have a right go this year."Hayes also feels his relationship with team-mate Chris Brown could help bring the squad success. He added: "Chris is a good player. It doesn't matter how well you know someone, when you have two good players playing together you have got every chance of doing well. Chris has made me feel welcome ever since I came here and that can only help on the pitch."
