Gallagher joins North End

Preston North End have added striker Paul Gallagher to their ranks after agreeing a loan deal with Blackburn Rovers.

The 23-year-old Scottish forward will now remain at Deepdale until January.

Gallagher scored 11 times in the Championship while on loan at Stoke City last season.

Meanwhile, Graham Alexander has revealed his decision to leave North End after nine years had been taken with a heavy heart.

The former Lilywhites captain made his 400th appearance for the club last weekend, before being told he was free to join Burnley in a £200,000 transfer.

"Leaving Preston was a massive decision for me, no matter where I was going," he told the club's official website.

"I've tried to keep my emotions out of it and make the right decision career-wise and I think that this is the right decision - but emotionally it was a very tough decision.

"I spoke to (manager) Paul Simpson about this situation and we agreed to disagree over what has gone on.

"At the end of the day, I had my opinion about what should happen and he had his - that's his prerogative and that's football."
