Four more face Preston axe
09 May 2007 - 09:21:24
Preston North End boss Paul Simpson has continued his reshaping of the Deepdale squad by placing four unwanted players on the transfer list.
Just 24 hours after releasing five players - including for England striker Michael Ricketts - Simpson has told goalkeeper Carlo Nash, midfielders Jason Jarrett and Adam Nowland plus striker Dave Hibbert that they have no future at the club.
Nash fell out with Simpson after he revealed a desire to move to Fulham in January and ended the season on loan at Wigan.
"It's a decision that I have come to based on what I have seen over the year," he told the club's official website.
"People will always have their opinions, but I form mine and make decisions from what I see day-to-day in training.
"Whether it is performance levels, whether it is attitude and I have made my decision on that.
"I feel as though we need to change the mentality in the football club and I have made that decision to try and help with that situation."
Meanwhile, Simpson has handed new contracts to promising youngsters Andrew Murphy, Dylan Adams and Chris McGrail and hopes to keep Gambia international Seyfo Soley beyond the end of his current short-term deal.
