First Away Win For Grayson
Simon Grayson picked up his first away win as Preston boss in stunning fashion as North End overran Walsall at the Bescot Stadium.
Preston have been threatening of late to break free and give someone a good thumping and Walsall were ont eh receiving end as their 16 home unbeaten run came to a crashing end.
North End appeared to revert back to a 4-4-2 although it can be argued that Laird and Humphrey were used as wing backs with Wright, Clarke and Huntington filling the central roles.
Byrom was given his first league start alongside Kean who captained the side. Holmes played on the left with Beavon accompanying Davies up front. The team received a special talk from wrestler, Wade Barrett, before the game which seemed to prove dividends.
North End bossed the first half and should have been ahead when Lee Holmes was put clean through. He was slow in getting his shot away and Walsall recovered back.
Soon after North End took the lead. Byrom swirled a free kick in the box which evaded everyone. Wright tried to get a head to it thereby distracting the keeper as the ball went into the net.
Preston should have scored more but soon after half time the game was all over. Humphrey cut in from the right and had a left foot shot which ended up in the net after a defekction.
A third was added soon after. A shout for handball went up but as everyone looked to the referee Holmes nipped in behind the back line and slot past the keeper.
The game was dead although Walsall did have the odd chance to grab a goal back. In fairnedd it would have been unjust as Preston were dominant throguhout keeping the ball and creating chances.
The next game is next Monday at home to Oldham before the Sky cameras. Preston now remain five league games unbeaten this season.
