Finishing costs Preston
Preston manager Darren Ferguson highlighted his side's poor finishing after they started their season with a 2-0 home defeat to Doncaster.First-half goals from James O'Connor and James Hayter put North End to bed at Deepdale, as the Lilywhites laboured in front of goal.Ferguson said afterwards: "If you don't take your chances you struggle, we had five second-half chances but we did not keep the ball well enough in the first half and they took their chances."If we got one we were back in the game. The first goal took a deflection and the second was disappointing."In the second half we had a right go and if we had scored one we could have got something. I'm not going to go home and shoot myself but it's disappointing because it's a bad start. But if we play like we did in the second half we'll win games, I have no doubt about that."There's been a lot of changes I've made and I think they are good changes. I'm not making any excuses about the age of the squad and Doncaster won't be that far away but second half we were better than them."
