Ferguson hails evergreen James

Preston manager Darren Ferguson paid a glowing tribute to David James for the magnificent save which denied Preston a morale-boosting victory at Bristol City. With the visitors leading through an early Iain Hume goal, James kept City in the game by stretching every sinew to fingertip Jon Parkin's curling 61st-minute shot onto the crossbar. The home side levelled nine minutes later when Billy Jones diverted a Marvin Elliott header into his own net and the two npower Championship strugglers had to settle for a share of the spoils."The save by James was world class and proved a turning point in the game," Ferguson said. "If we had scored a second goal then I'm sure we would have gone on to win."I'm really pleased with the performance of my team and we are bitterly disappointed not to have won."Getting an early goal was really important because I'm sure Bristol aimed to start the game quickly and put us under pressure. We have a really big week ahead with home games against Barnsley and Hull, but we can take a lot of confidence from this display."
