Ferguson bemoans `schoolboy howler'
Preston boss Darren Ferguson expressed his disappointment at the way his team threw away a point against Barnsley.North End, who have won just twice on home soil this season, led through an early header from defender Craig Morgan. But Tykes winger Adam Hammill's spectacular strike deservedly hauled the visitors level shortly before half-time and on-loan Birmingham striker Garry O'Connor capitalised on a defensive error to settle the match in the 89th minute.Ferguson said: "It was a hell of a way to finish a game with a schoolboy howler. In the end it was a terrible result and a shame because we started the game so well - scored early doors and had a great chance to score a second."But to be quite honest, after that Barnsley passed it better than us. Adam Hammill did what we warned he would do but all in all the second half was pretty even until that strange decision at the end by Sean (St Ledger). He has held his hand up and it was so unlike him."We've missed an opportunity to move up the table - big individual mistakes and wrong decisions are costing us points."
